Vera Coomans & Thomas Devos

Vera Coomans started as a singer with Mistero Buffo and later with the well-known folk group Rum. In the early eighties, she released one album with Madou, from which two songs became outright Belpop classics: ‘Witte Nachten’ and ‘Niets is voor altijd’.
And then it went quiet around Madou.

Vera went on to make several English-language albums with artists including Tom Theuns. Until, together with her son Thomas Devos and Wiet Van de Leest, she released a new Dutch-language album in 2021 featuring new original songs and a few unreleased Madou tracks. Madou was reborn.

Our Flemish Marianne Faithfull sounds more weathered than ever with the new repertoire. With son Thomas (musically known for rumplestitchkin & Tommigun) on acoustic guitar, Vera gets the perfect support for this intense, intimate performance.
In 2026, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Flanders Folk Network for her impact on the Flemish folk scene.
