Griff Trio – Flemish Folk Legends

Friday 18 December 2026 Doors 20:00 · Start 20:30 ‘Nouter Club

For this project, Griff Trio reached out to the generation of musicians who shaped the Belgian folk revival in the '60s and '70s. These are the pioneers thanks to whom instruments like the bagpipes, accordion, and hurdy-gurdy are still heard today: Hubert Boone, Herman & Rosita Dewit, Marc Malempré, Alfred Den Ouden, and Marc Hauman.

More from this artist

Griff Trio is an eclectic trio that navigates between tradition and the avant-garde.

Throughout its various projects, the ensemble has managed to create a new soundscape for the
bagpipes. In addition to the bagpipes, the flute and vocals have also taken on an
important place in Griff’s repertoire over the years. Polyphony is always the common
thread.

Griff Trio represents not only a daring alchemy of sounds, timbres, and rhythms, voices
and instruments, but also idiosyncratic harmonies—ranging from intimate to rousing—
where the musical yesterday merges with today.

A 21st century troubadour trio!
