Goblin Band (UK)

Friday 23 October 2026 Doors 20:00 · Start 20:30 ‘Nouter Club

Goblin Band is a queer-led folk band from London that approaches traditional English folk with a boisterous, exuberant energy. Their music is rooted in the traditions of the British Isles, medieval music, and political labor history. Growing out of folk sessions, the group evolved into a unique live band featuring polyphonic vocals, fiddle, squeezeboxes, and recorders.

More from this artist

Goblin Band was born out of a desire to create a warm, inclusive space for young and queer folk musicians. Since then, the group has grown into a staple of the progressive London folk scene, with performances in and far beyond the city. Their music connects age-old songs and centuries-old traditions with radical energy and direct interaction with the audience, resulting in an immersive and exuberant live experience.

Goblin Band’s debut album A Loaf Of Wax is a live recording that perfectly captures the euphoric energy of their concerts. The London-based quartet—Rowan Gatherer (hurdy-gurdy, recorder, reed instruments, vocals), Sonny Brazil (concertina, accordion, vocals), Gwena Harman (drums, pump organ, recorder, vocals), and Alice Beadle (fiddle, recorder)—blends traditional folk with intense dynamics, humor, and a sharp political consciousness.

Praised by folk icons like Martin Carthy, Goblin Band breathes new life into centuries-old traditions through a contemporary DIY approach. Their music sounds simultaneously rebellious, vibrant, and deeply rooted in history.
