Charlie Cunningham solo (UK)

Charlie Cunningham has grown into a remarkable under-the-radar success story. With his signature combination of piano and nylon-string guitar, he writes melancholic, rhythmically driven songs that have earned him a permanent place in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls.

Although dyslexia makes it nearly impossible for him to read music, Cunningham still earned a music degree. In his twenties, he balanced various jobs with songwriting in his spare time. Eventually, he moved to Seville, where he immersed himself in the flamenco tradition and dedicated himself intensely to his guitar playing. What began as a three-month stay turned into three years. Upon his return, he found work as a musician in bars in London and Oxford, where he also began refocusing on writing his own songs. Cunningham has since released three albums and four EPs, together accounting for more than half a billion streams. With his new album In Light, he showcases a clear and layered sound: a subtle mix of organic, softly pulsing production, compelling melodies, and his signature, refined guitar playing. The arrangements are understated yet dynamic, intuitively following the movement of his voice with unexpected modulations, light distortion, and atmospheric soundscapes.

This evening also features an opening act. Born and raised on the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Hebrides, Sorren Maclean has been a fixture in the Scottish music scene for over 20 years as a guitarist, singer, and composer. He has contributed to more than 60 albums within the indie and folk worlds. For instance, he co-wrote three studio albums with long-time partner Roddy Woomble and has toured and recorded with the likes of King Creosote, Capercaillie, Wolfstone, and The Grit Orchestra. Sorren’s most recent album, A Journey Looking Backwards, was released in May 2025.
