Bliet

Bliet performs local folk songs featuring women in the lead roles. Women in many guises: the mother, the virgin, the widow, the saint, the harlot, the witch… With a love for vocal harmony and groove, Bliet weaves old Flemish melodies with contemporary influences. Their music bridges the gap between tradition and the present: at once raw and refined, familiar and surprising. The repertoire moves effortlessly from energetic and vibrant interplay to intimate, clear-sounding moments.

The band debuted at the Fielfestival in the summer of 2022, and that enthusiastically received performance left them wanting more. They immediately secured a nomination for ‘best newcomer’ at the 2024 Flanders Folk Awards.
