Only Remembered brings 455 British soldiers behind ‘Nouter Club back into the light. Twelve international musicians translated their stories into new, personal songs. An intimate tribute where history and music meet.

Just behind ‘Nouter Club lies a small British Commonwealth military cemetery, where 455 soldiers found their final resting place. To mark the centenary of the war, Muziekcentrum Dranouter (now: ‘Nouter Club) paid tribute with Only Remembered, a unique musical homage.
For this project, we delved into the stories behind the white headstones and commissioned 12 international musicians to compose new songs. Family members from Canada, England, Australia, and other countries shared their memories, which formed the basis for personal tracks, each connected to a soldier and the village of Dranouter. Every performance brings these soldiers back to life for a moment. A commemoration in its purest form.
The premiere took place on May 2, 2015, at ‘Nouter Club, featuring performances by Naomi Vercauteren, Bert Ruymbeek, Jan Debrabandere, Daithi Rua, Jeroen Geerinck, Koen Dewaele, Jim & Georgina Boyes, and presented by Wouter Sinaeve. Contributions came from Les Frères Lemay (CA), Daithi Rua (IRL), ODE (SE), Ray Cooper & Jim Boyes (UK), Curly Strings (EST), Barrule (Isle of Man), Wim Toucour, Wim Claeys, NV3, Urban Trad, Orquesta Tanguedia (VL).
